What do you find most rewarding about focusing on health advancement?
We are a collection of so many diverse and amazing talents—students, educators, care providers, researchers, and a myriad of staff—all serving one common cause: the patient who is at the center of everything we do. It definitely takes the whole village!
Can you describe a specific moment in your career that led to new opportunities and/or professional development?
On December 1, 2005, I accepted an invitation to join the Advancement Office at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center—from the beginning to the end of the Making Cancer History campaign. Blessed are those who plant trees under whose shade they will never sit.

What’s your favorite travel destination, or a place you’d love to visit someday, and why?
Seville, Spain, is a home away from home and a place of eventual retirement. It began when I celebrated Semana Santa (Holy Week) there some 12 or so years ago, and my affection for that city has only grown with time.
